The 8th International Planning Workshop on Global Precipitation
Measurement (GPM) will be held on 16-18
June 2009 in Paris, France, jointly hosted by CNES and CNRS, in the
frame of the Megha-Tropiques mission. In anticipation of the upcoming
launch of the Megha-Tropiques satellite, which will
contribute two microwave radiometers (MADRAS and SAPHIR) to
significantly upgrade the sampling by the GPM constellation in the
Tropics, this workshop will provide a programmatic forum. For more information, click here .

The primary goal of this conference will be to discuss how
satellite data can be used to understand the variations in water vapor,
clouds, liquid water, ice and radiation budget that occur in the
tropics. The conference will have invited speakers as well as
contributed papers. We welcome contributions from scientists all over
the world. The conference website (http://www.mtconf2009.org

The ScaRaB optical sensor has been successfully
integrated at LMD (Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau). Mid-November, it was
transferred to CNES/Toulouse for further tests and ground calibration
operations. This is an important event, especially for
the LMD and CNES engineers and technicians who have been working on this project
for several years. Click here to see the related picture.
