29 May : first MTGV Dedicated Radio-Sounding campaign in Ouagadougou
The Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) MTGV Super-Site is now fully operational with the Xport polarimetric radar ready to sample convective systems.
The first Radio-Sounding Campaign dedicated to MT-SAPHIR based  Water Vapor products validation, has been going on since  May 29th, thanks  to a lot of support from ASECNA (Agence pour la SECurité de la NAvigation Aerienne en Afrique et Madagascar). Every day a pair of radio sounding is launched in synchronization of Megha-Tropiques overpasses. The 2 RS are  launched 35 min apart to allow simultaneous sampling of the lower and upper part of the troposphere  while MT is overpassing.  This dry phase campaign is scheduled for 2 weeks and will be followed by a moist-phase campaign in the hart of the African Monsoon season in 2d half of July.

15-20th of April 2012: 30th Conference on Hurricanes and Tropical Meteorology, USA
Megha-Tropiques was present at the 30th Conference on Hurricanes and Tropical Meteorology that took place in Ponte-Vedra Beach, FL, USA on 15-20th of April 2012. The Megha-Tropiques data set is an invaluable source of information for the community working on tropical meteorology and hurricane forecast. Nicolas Viltard gave two talks, one on the mission status and the other on the MT-II field campaign during DYNAMO in the Maldives in November-December 2011. 30 March 2012: the ATBDs for the TAPEER-BRAIN and MCS composite products are available
Tapeer-BRAIN is a combined Microwave-Infrared accumulated precipitation estimation product implemented as a Megha-Tropiques Level 4 product. TAPEER stands for Tropical Amount of Precipitation with an Estimate of ERrors. It provides precipitation estimations and associated errors at the one-degree/one-day accumulated scale. 
To characterize the evolution of the energy budget along the life cycle of convective systems, a MT level 4 product, called "MCS composite" has been developped.
The ATBD (Algorithm Theoritical Basis Document) of the TAPEER algorithm and MCS composite algorithm have been published under the Megha-Tropiques Technical Memorandum  (MTTM)  n°4 and n°5.
